Assam polls: Major Opposition leaders trailing in early trends

All large Opposition leaders successful Assam, including Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia, Akhil Gogoi, Lurinjyoti Gogoi, Jagadish Bhuyan and Rajen Gohain, were trailing successful their respective constituencies, according to Election Commission information connected Monday (May 4, 2026).

Congress person Saikia was trailing by 4,967 votes successful Sivasagar district's Nazira seat. BJP’s Mayur Borgohain secured 11,607 votes aft the 2nd round, compared to Saikia’s 6,640.
