The Pension Committee constituted by the Tamil Nadu authorities to survey the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), and the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), and to urge a suitable enactment for the State, submitted its last study to Chief Minister M.K. Stalin astatine the Secretariat successful Chennai connected Tuesday (December 30, 2025).

The study has been submitted up of a onslaught planned from January 6, 2026, by the JACTTO-GEO, an umbrella organisation of State authorities employees and teachers, demanding the restoration of the OPS.

The committee was constituted successful February this twelvemonth to analyse assorted pension schemes for authorities employees. It was headed by elder IAS serviceman Gagandeep Singh Bedi. Former Director of the Madras School of Economics K.R. Shanmugam was the different subordinate of the committee, and IAS serviceman Pratik Tayal served arsenic its Member Secretary.

The committee held respective rounds of discussions with associations of State authorities employees, different stakeholders, and fiscal institutions. On October 1, it submitted its interim study to the State government.

Minister for Finance Thangam Thennarasu, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and Finance Secretary T. Udhayachandran were among those contiguous erstwhile the committee submitted the study to the Chief Minister.
