Subrahmaniyan Kasirajan, a distinguished agronomist, has assumed complaint arsenic Registrar and acting Vice-Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU).
Prof. Subrahmaniyan, hitherto Director of Tamil Nadu Rice Research Institute, Aduthurai, has replaced R. Thamizh Vendan who has been shifted to the former’s post. The improvement follows a gathering of the TNAU’s Board of Management, authoritative sources said.
An alumnus of Annamalai University (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) and TNAU, Coimbatore (Ph.D.), 56-year-old Prof. Subrahmaniyan had conducted probe connected degradable integrative mulch astatine Zhejiang University, China (2004-05) and served arsenic a Fulbright Fellow astatine Michigan State University, USA (2010-11), specialising successful microclimate modification.

Prof. Subraymaniyan was Instrumental successful the merchandise of 25 harvest varieties, including 7 rice, six groundnut, 3 sesame, and assorted millet and pulse varieties; and had developed and demonstrated the Integrated Farming System exemplary tailored for the Cauvery Delta Zone.
The awards won by Prof. Subrahmaniyan includes ISA Fellow Award (2018), and Indian Society of Agronomy (ISA) Gold medal grant (2025), the merchandise said.
