Having spent 8 years successful situation aft being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl, a 56-year-old antheral has been acquitted by the proceedings tribunal citing “scanty evidence”.

The connection of the victim, who was said to beryllium suffering from mean intelligence disability, contradicted different evidence, said the peculiar tribunal for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act).

In the ruling delivered connected November 28, justice N.D. Khose held that "evidence adduced by the prosecution is scanty and not capable to beryllium the guilt of the accused beyond tenable doubt".

As per the prosecution, the incidental took spot connected August 23, 2017, successful Kurar country of Malad (East), Mumbai.

The accused, who was the girl's neighbour, allegedly entered her location erstwhile she was alone, sexually assaulted her, and threatened her family.

The girl's parent filed a constabulary ailment and the accused was arrested connected August 24, 2017, for rape nether the Indian Penal Code (IPC) arsenic good arsenic offences nether the POCSO Act.
