Nine persons were killed and 3 others severely injured erstwhile a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) autobus jumped a median and collided with 2 SUVs astatine Ezhuthur adjacent Thittakudi connected Wednesday (December 24, 2025) night.
The deceased, each of whom were occupants of the 2 cars, were being identified, the constabulary said.
The autobus was proceeding to Chennai from Tiruchi erstwhile 1 of its beforehand tyres burst. The operator mislaid power of the vehicle, which jumped the median and collided with the 2 SUVs.
On being alerted, the Ramanatham constabulary rushed to the spot. The bodies were retrieved and sent for a post-mortem.
The mishap caused large postulation disruption connected the Tiruchi-Chennai National Highway.
