Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar connected Thursday said 441 caller nationalist toilets were being constructed successful the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) limits, successful summation to 388 existing toilets, to amended sanitation facilities crossed the city.

Replying to Congress subordinate Aarthi Krishna successful the Legislative Council, Mr. Shivakumar said respective measures were being taken to amended the availability and attraction of nationalist toilets successful the city.

Ms. Krishna had raised concerns that galore nationalist toilets successful the GBA limits were not user-friendly and not successful usable condition, and suggested that artificial quality (AI) beryllium utilized to show cleanliness and maintenance.

In response, Mr. Shivakumar said the metropolis presently has astir 380 nationalist toilets, of which 65 were being operated by retired pourakarmikas, portion 20 were being tally by persons with disabilities.

Under the Shubhra Bengaluru initiative, 60 toilets would beryllium constructed, helium said. In addition, 191 toilets were nether construction.

He said the Union authorities had provided ₹13.5 crore nether the Swachh Bharat Mission, nether which 90 toilets were being built. Another 100 toilets were being constructed nether the Brand Bengaluru initiative, chiefly aimed astatine improving facilities for women.
