₹4.51-crore pension fund misappropriation in V.O.C. Port; seven booked by CBI

The CBI has registered lawsuit against 5 officials of V.O.C. Port Trust and 2 others for allegedly syphoning disconnected pension money to the tune of ₹4.51 crore.

Following accusation astir misappropriation of pension funds successful V.O.C. Port Authority, the CBI started inquiry.

The probe reportedly revealed that Kishore Babu and Manikanda Prabhu of a backstage firm, to which the pension money handling had been outsourced, manipulated the information of the pensioners with the assistance of Port authorities – Senior Accounts Officer Anuradha, Accounts Officer Palani Kumarasamy, Electronic Data Officer Rogers Durairaj, Assistant Director of Electronic Data Enforcement Kaliappan and Senior Assistant Santhana Sankar – for misappropriation of funds.

They had included the names of 27 dormant pensioners successful the pensioners’ database and diverted this money to the tune of ₹4.51 crore till March 2024 to the fake slope accounts created successful the names of their friends and relatives.

Hence, the CBI has registered lawsuit against the 7 suspects, sources successful the Port said.
