The Udupi constabulary person seized 315 units of soil worthy ₹ 8.5 lakh illegally extracted from Varahi stream furniture successful Molahalli colony of Kundapura taluk of Udupi district.
A squad led by Kota Police Sub-Inspector R. Praveen Kumar raided the spot and seized the illegally extracted sand. The constabulary besides seized 3 fibre boats and different articles utilized for soil extraction.
The Kota constabulary registered a lawsuit against 22 persons namely Devanand Shetty, Amaresh, Krupal, Parashuram, Prabeen, Ramcharan, Satrohan, Ram Avatar, Bimalesh, Ramalal, Bhola, Sanjay, Hriday Ram, Sarvan, Mukesh, Karan, Prince, Kishon, Suraj, Neraj, Kallu and Rajeev. They were booked for offences punishable nether Section 303 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 4, 4(1A) and 21 of Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.
