12 fishermen honoured in Ramanathapuram for rescuing sea turtles

Twelve fishermen who had rescued turtles that had accidentally got trapped successful their sportfishing nets by leaving them backmost into oversea were honoured by Ramanathapuram Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon present connected Wednesday.

The Collector presented to them ‘Kadal Kappaan’ (Sea Saviour) grant on with ₹1,000 successful to each of them connected behalf of Kadalosai FM 90.4.

A full of 124 turtles person been rescued by 63 fishermen of the territory till date, the connection said.

Various consciousness programmes were being conducted to conserve oversea turtles by the Department of Forest. This includes monitoring postulation of turtle eggs, storing them successful hatcheries and leaving the hatchlings backmost into the oversea with the assistance of voluntary organisations.

Wildlife Warden Akhil Tambi, Assistant Director, Fisheries, Sivakumar, and Gayathri of Community Radio were among those who were present.
