On Wednesday nighttime (May 6, 2026), an omni autobus was heading to Coimbatore from Chennai with much than 25 passengers. While the autobus reached Soolaimedu adjacent Kondalampatti successful Salem, successful the wee hours of Thursday, the autobus collided with a instrumentality lorry that came to Salem from Kolkata.

In the accident, 11 passengers sustained injuries and S. Premkumar (29), M. Nanthakumar (29), V. Prasanth (48), and V. Balaji (23) were admitted to Salem Government Hospital. Likewise, S. Raji (27), S. Suriya (27), K. Logesh (36), J. Joseph (34), P. Senthilnathan (54), G. Parasuraman (52) and J. Abdul (26) were admitted to a backstage hospital.
