The Puttur Rural Police arrested 2 persons connected January 19 connected the complaint of transporting cannabis (marijuana/ganja), and seized 106 kg of the contraband worthy ₹53 lakh.

Dakshina Kannada District Police said the Puttur Rural Police, acting connected circumstantial information, intercepted a car and a mini goods conveyance astatine Sajankadi successful Paduvannur colony connected January 19. While they recovered 100 gm of cannabis successful the car, they recovered 106 kg of cannabis, packed successful 73 packets, successful the goods vehicle.

Police gave the sanction of the car operator arsenic P. Rafique, 37, and that of the goods conveyance operator arsenic Abdul Sadique, 37, some residents of Charmadi colony successful Belthangady taluk.

The accused told the constabulary that they were transporting the cannabis to merchantability successful Dakshina Kannada territory successful Karnataka and Kasargod territory successful Kerala.
