Officials of the Civil Supplies Crime Investigation Department seized 1,600 kg of ration atom being smuggled for amerciable merchantability adjacent Malayampalayam connected Friday and arrested 2 persons.
Acting connected a tip-off, a squad led by sub-inspector Menaka, on with the flying squad’s peculiar tahsildar and constabulary personnel, conducted a conveyance cheque astatine Kannudaiyampalayam Pudur. During the inspection, they intercepted a van and recovered ration atom being transported without valid documents.
The 2 occupants of the conveyance were identified arsenic Kalimuthu (34) and Vijay (32), some residents of Mathampatti. Preliminary inquiries revealed that they had purchased ration atom from the nationalist and were smuggling it to merchantability to migrant workers from bluish states astatine higher prices.
Following the seizure, the constabulary registered a lawsuit against the duo and arrested them. The van utilized for smuggling and the seized atom were taken into custody.
